| The
centerpiece of the Granite FC C.O.E. is the
training and coaching that each C.O.E. side
receives. The C.O.E. currently uses the services
of Elite UK Soccer Training, LLC precisely
because this company brings to bear the training
and coaching methods and standards of the
English and Welsh Football Associations. In
particular, they employ a coaching philosophy
that is non-dictative and places a premium
on the ability of each player to think through
for herself or himself the techniques and
tactics of the game. Instead of issuing a
series of instructions or corrective measures,
the Elite UK trainers teach by asking a series
of leading questions that force each player
to arrive at solutions through their own reasoning.
In this way, the players are given “ownership”
of their mental and physical development and,
thus, they are more motivated and poised when
learning the game. The end result is a player
who can think and play more quickly and calmly
under the pressure and speed of game settings.
